The aims of the NutraMara programme include investigating the sustainability of Irish marine resources, isolation of useful bioactive components, characterization of marine derived bioactives and potential uses as food ingredients.
In order to apply the knowledge gained from this project to real life situations concerning functional food ingredients and health claims and their application to industry, several factors must be considered:
